Fix Me Up

5 May 2010

Work is so annoying!  They just blocked WordPress! {Yes, I blog at work.  Sheesh.}  First it was AOL, and now this!

It seems I’m allotted a certain amount of “quota time” in 10 minute increments.  Not sure how often this quota time is refreshed, but I’m not happy.  I need to get out of such a structured position and focus on my shop full-time.  A girl can dream…

BUT today I thought that dream might be a bit closer to reality when J told me about a fixer-upper townhouse in Frederick that his sister found for… wait for it… $89,000.  And I saw the pictures.  A fixer-upper it is but not a horrible amount of work.

That $600 mortgage made my heart go pitter-patter.  It’s like real estate porn {a la the wedding porn Angie cringes about}.

Of course, I’ve been on the prowl for months now for decent real estate in Maryland.  I started my initial search at a much higher level than what J and I can honestly afford.  In the past few weeks, I’ve tried to be more realistic, though it’s hard to look at houses we could potentially afford when we’re not seriously considering buying for. another. year.  Think I started my search a bit early?  Me too.

But how fantastic would it be if we could buy a (town)house for something $50,000/$75,000/$100,000 cheaper than we initially thought?  That might even give me the chance to focus on our businesses full time!  And that, my friends, would be fan-freaking-tastic.

Here’s a peak into the latest fixer-upper I found:

And my favorite part…

… that color!  Ha.  Just kidding!  The french doors.  I’ve always wanted wide doorways and french doors.

More to come!

Thanks for the shout out! And that last pic of the peach room with the french doors is great! You could totally knock down that brick wall and open up the room, or even just make that doorway a little bigger. I’m sure you can find something on YoungHouseLove…. bleh. You know how jealous I am of them and how sick they make me at the same time.

Also, Frederick ain’t so bad. A lot of my family lives up there and the town is growing. Never been to Old Town Frederick, but my cousin tells me it’s a decent scene with good thrift stores.

She’s about to have her baby, too. I totally commented on a post, guessing her due date, in the hopes of winning a West Elm gift certificate. I’m such a sucker.

OMG… really? She’s doing a giveaway based on her due date?!! Haha! I hate them and love them so much. Anyways, I blame her for my wanting to be a stay-at-home-blogger-mom. Oh, and Dooce. Her too.
